Following the tradition of Mughal architecture, there is a big lawn all around the Panch Mahal in Agra. The main building of Panch Mahal is situated on the western side of the main courtyard. This is a special building for the ladies in the family as they can enjoy open air here. There are 176 pillars in Panch Mahal and all of them have beautifully artistic carvings on their face. While the queens and princess of the family enjoyed cool breeze, they were actually covered by veil spread all around the pillars.
The top floor of Panch Mahal is the terrace and it is one of the tallest buildings in the region. From here the visitors can see various attractions of Agra. There are spaces for amusements also in Panch Mahal. Here, Akbar used to spend quality of time playing chess here and enjoying live musical performances by beautiful girls.
The Panch Mahal is located at Fatehpur Sikri, only 45km. throughout the year, Panch Mahal can be visited and the gate of Panch Mahal remains from 8a.m. to 7p.m. Regular transport are available from all major parts of the country. This monument stays as an epitome of indo-Arabic architectural style.
